Sawatdee krub! Today we explore a powerful teaching: "World Peace Begins with Inner Peace" สันติภาพโลกเริ่มจากสันติสุขภายใน. Luang Por explains that when the mind is comfortable and happy, we stop comparing ourselves to others and start sharing.
This lesson introduces terms for global concepts and personal feelings.
Luang Por uses clear, repetitive sentences. Practice these to understand how Thai structure works:
Luang Por mentions that when we find inner happiness, we understand the word "Enough" พอ (Por). If we have more than enough, we naturally want to share แบ่งปัน (Baeng-pan) with others, which removes social conflict.
You will hear โลก (Lok) many times. It means "World." When Luang Por says มรดกโลก (Mo-ra-dok lok), he means "World Heritage"—referring to this meditation knowledge that belongs to everyone.
In Thai, when you want to say something "starts from," you use the pattern:
[Subject] + เริ่มต้นจาก (rerm-ton jak) + [Source]
Example: ความสุขเริ่มต้นจากใจ (Happiness starts from the heart).
At the very beginning [00:00:00], listen for "Jai Sa-bai" (Comfortable Heart). This is the foundation of everything Luang Por teaches!
Practice the word ความสุข (Kwam-suk). The "suk" sounds like the "soo" in "soot" but with a very soft 'k' at the end. It’s a short, upward-leaning sound.
